The short answer

Most full kitchen remodels in Southeast Georgia land between $28,000 and $75,000. A cosmetic refresh — new counters, backsplash, paint, hardware, and lighting — often comes in under $20,000. Moving walls, relocating plumbing, or opening a kitchen into a living room pushes projects toward the upper end.

The range is wide because kitchens are the most component-heavy room in the house. Every choice compounds: cabinet construction, counter material, appliance package, and how much of the existing layout you keep.

Where the money goes

Cabinetry is almost always the single largest line item, typically 30 to 40 percent of the budget. Semi-custom boxes with plywood construction and soft-close hardware hit the sweet spot for most homeowners; full custom makes sense when you have odd ceiling heights or want built-ins that read as furniture.

Countertops run second. Quartz has largely replaced granite as the default because it needs no sealing and holds a consistent pattern. Natural marble is beautiful and porous — great on a baking island, harder to live with around a coffee station.

Labor, permits, and the unglamorous work behind the drywall — electrical upgrades, venting, subfloor repair — usually account for a third of the total. This is the part low bids leave out.

What changes the number most

Layout. Keeping sink, range, and refrigerator roughly where they are keeps plumbing and electrical costs predictable. Moving them is not off the table, but it should be a decision you make on purpose, not an accident of a rendering.
